The Eberly Brothers were originally heard on Wichita Kansas' Public Radio Station KMUW in 1988.  During their brief but "stellar" series of "Gospel" Radio Hour shows, they were able to mix a hair-wire take on evangelism of the over-the-top variety (as in parody), with a firm belief in the dotty subject (ala Hendrix) of UFO's and [ahem!] the idea that Jesus was a (entheogenically psychoactive) mushroom, and that he actually drove a UFO - showroom model- into the hereafter and -presumably- the Great beyond.

No televangelistic stone was rejected by the musical duo of builders and many classic subjects emerge in the songs: adultery, thievery, murder, desire, corruption, liquor, fancy cars, ho' houses, in short, just about every color of lacy panties that a preacher of the very Reverend John Gerald Eberly's ilk can get their sneaky hands onto.

The Ebros enjoyed some measure of slight success before their eventual plummet into oblivion: two or three cassette releases "Religion is Sex", "The Valerian Sessions" and "God's Puppets". Their signature track "Break My Mind" made it onto the last compilation done by San Francisco’s infamous UNSOUND magazine.  The live version of the Animals "House of the Rising Sun" found on the "Rise & Fall" CD is culled from a handful of shows the Eberly Brothers did with guitar maestro Eugene Chadbourne of Shockabilly fame.

Over a decade passed before the brothers reunited in October of 2001 to play at the Wichita Center for the Arts. A couple of live tracks from that show are included toward the end of the "Rise & Fall" CD.
